DAILY ROUTINE AT OUR ALASKA FLY FISHING LODGE

Start your morning with wake-up beverage service in your room about 6:00 a.m. Stroll in to the main lodge for breakfast. Meals are served family style, all you can eat. The breakfast menu changes up each day and consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, cold cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, baked goods and some clients’ favorite – bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon.

While guests are gearing up for the day, the kitchen crew packs coolers for lunches which include deli-style sandwiches, chips, cookies and fruit. We always include a thermos of coffee, thermos of soup, water bottles and soda. Hot shore lunches are also an option, with fresh caught fish prepared stream-side. With your waders on, rain coat, sunglasses, camera and lucky fishing hat, you are ready to depart our Alaska fly fishing lodge for the day’s adventure.

Your guide will be waiting to take you either by jet boat for a day on the Kvichak River, or by float plane for a day of fly out fishing to nearby rivers, depending on where the fish are throughout the season. Your guides will give you options and recommendations, then we spend the day having fun and doing our best to make your arms sore from catching fish.

About 6:00 p.m. we get you back safe and sound to the lodge in time to pull your waders off, take a hot shower, and then gather in the main lodge for what we affectionately call “Liars Hour” where appetizers are served and stories are told. Depending on the menu, dinner is plated of served family style at 7:30.

EVENINGS TO RELAX AND ENJOY

After dinner, some guests like to hit the beach in front of the lodge which is one of the best holes on the river in the evening. It’s always a great way to end the day, watching the sun go down with a rod in hand and a few fish being landed.

If you would rather relax indoors before retiring to bed, there is a flat-screen TV with a library of DVD’s to view, a fully stocked fly-tying table, and a shelf of books to read.

While at the lodge you will stay in one of our guest cabins. Based on double occupancy, each cabin has either two twin beds or king sized bed for couples. Each room has a private bathroom with full sized tub/shower, private heat, unlimited hot water and 24 hour power. We offer daily maid service and laundry service upon your request.

Igiugig Lodge was built in the early 1970s. With many improvements in recent years, the lodge is as warm and welcoming as it was the day it was built. Inside the lodge is the dining area and a large kitchen where our Chef prepares fresh, home-cooked meals each day. Guests have full access to a comfortable living room with a well stocked fly tying table for your use and library of books and DVDʼs for your entertainment. The main lodge offers wireless internet for those who want to stay connected, as well as a phone for calls home or to the office.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

Operating in a remote location means we are “off the grid” and produce our own power. We accomplish this with a renewable energy system consisting of solar panels, a battery bank, and a generator. This allows us to have 24 hour power without the noise of the generator during evening hours.

Guest WiFi – We also have internet service for you to check e-mails if business won’t let you rest. There is a phone in the main lodge and we recommend you bring a calling card with you for calls home or to the office.

AMAZING FISHING AND WILDLIFE

Viewing Alaska Brown Bears Up Close 1000
Picture yourself reeling in up to five species of Pacific Salmon, Northern Pike, Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling, & Rainbow Trout – possibly all in the same day. While enjoying in this incredible fishing you can enjoy close up sightings of sow grizzly bears teaching their cubs to feed on fish.

You’ll also have opportunities to see moose, gray & black wolves, otters, beavers, eagles, ospreys, falcons, & over 50 other species of migratory & song birds that make the Lake Iliamna area their homes.

Once here, you’ll find it’s like having your own private fishing reserve at this truly remote, yet extremely comfortable lodge. There’s no “combat fishing” here. Located about 200 miles southwest of Anchorage, we really are a remote lodge on the Kvichak River.

Our nearest neighbor to our Alaska fly fishing lodge is a good way downstream. You most likely won’t see any other anglers, boaters, or float planes during your stay. It’s just us & the wildlife on this beautiful stretch of river. Guests are consistently delighted with the genuine hospitality we provide, and to find the comforts of home in such a remote area.
